Desktop Support

MIS Technology Group offers a variety of services at the desktop level. While we have a full understanding of desktop related services, we like to approach things from a different perspective. Desktops, when left in the hands of your general staff, can cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars. How much did you have to pay last time someone downloaded some spy ware? We look at having everything on the file server so that if something goes wrong with an individual workstation you can immediately move to another workstation until yours can be fixed. We use Novell ZENworks in order to accomplish such tasks. We provide all of our customers with a login to our work order tracking system. If someone has a simple problem we provide the ease of submitting a case online. But for those that prefer, we are also just a simple phone call away.

Infrastructure Design & Support

We have been building, designing, and maintaining enterprise level networks for many years. The important thing to understand with infrastructure design is scalability. Your infrastructure must scale with the business. The entire goal behind technology is to make business faster and more efficient. We currently handle design, implementation and maintenance projects for organizations with multiple locations and nearly a 1000 devices. Keeping everything running smooth when your organization increases its size depends on a solid foundation. We currently service organizations scattered not only throughout the state of Louisiana but the entire southeast. We can provide maintenance of all network related devices such as your switches and routers. We have setup and installed frame relay networks as well as site to site VPN tunnels for many of our clients. We also provide firewall service. We have been working with many companies making sure that their organization meets HIPAA requirements. What ever your needs, what ever your circumstances we can help.

We look at support from an objective view. We have many companies that use us to solely support their high level components such as there servers, routers, and switches. Most companies have money to hire a basic desktop person but cannot afford nor need a full time network engineer. We supplement these companies with the support they need. We also provide full support outsourcing for companies. There is no technological aspect that they need to worry about, it is all our responsibility. We can even supply a dedicated employee to work full time or part time if needed. Some clients like to have a static figure to budget each month, we have maintenance contracts to support them. We also provide all of our services on an hourly basis as well.

Server Support

MIS Technology Group has installed hundreds of servers for various organizations and institutions. We support all of Microsoft's server platforms including NT, 2000, and 2003. We support and maintain Microsoft's SQL server for a countless number of proprietary databases for our clients. We support all versions of Microsoft's Exchange server including 5.5, 2000, and the newest 2003. We understand the operations that need to be in place in order to make sure that your server is up and protected from disaster. We use Symantec Antivirus at all of our client's offices. We also use VERITAS as our backup software of choice. These software packages are what we find works best for most businesses. We also understand that everyone's needs are different, that is why we evaluate everyone's business to make sure that they have the most effective solutions in place.

MIS Technology Group is also a Novell Gold partner. We primarily provide Novell services to educational institutions. Novell has an amazing product suite that can have wonderful impacts on your business. Novell produces a product called GroupWise, which is an enterprise mail system that we use for most of our larger clients. We also leverage Novell's ZENworks in order to lower our clients TCO. ZENworks software gives us the ability to service so much more with so much little. We support all versions of Novell NetWare, GroupWise, and ZENworks.

VoIP

MIS Technology Group has recently added deployment of Voice over IP to our knowledgebase. IP Telephony is another terminology used for VoIP. We use Cisco Systems CallManager Express in order to provide an amazing product. VoIP has become the new up and coming technology that people are starting to take advantage of. The system is an extremely feature rich product. If your business has multiple offices than VoIP was build with you in mind.

VoIP allows you to leverage your existing data communication lines to include your voice traffic. This allows you the ease of transferring calls between offices as well as saving on toll charges. With VoIP your organization can operate more efficiently and save money. Depending on your current data network you might not even have much of a cost upgrade.

Many companies are going to be selling the product, especially a company that currently sells telephone systems, but the truth is the phone is now a computer. Trust someone that knows computers, trust us. In the voice world very little can go wrong to disrupt your dial tone. But a great deal of knowledge is required to design and setup a VoIP system. After the system is up and running it is extremely easy to maintain. For most additions, moves, or changes to your system a technician doesn't even need to come out to your office to fix it.

Wireless Design

` MIS Technology Group has been performing a variety of different installations. We have been installing individual access points for specific target areas. We have also installed entire campus area installations in order to provide a full campus wireless LAN.

East Baton Rouge Parish School Board had installed multiple wireless systems into their training facility at Crista McAuliffe center over the past several years, none of which ever worked well. We installed the new Cisco Wireless LAN controllers and they have been up and running ever since without a single problem.

After hurricane Katrina we did a large installation for the Army National Guard of Louisiana. Our staff installed wireless bridges into a military base in order to provide Voice over IP Telephony and data to various areas of the base that were not wired.

Wireless bridges are a good option for any company that needs to connect to buildings with line of sight. Wireless bridges are also a good option when running cable and/or paying the telephone company to provide a service that is not cost effective.

MIS Technology Group now offers website design for small to medium businesses. We can design a brand new website or redesign your old website. We develop our sites to be quickly downloaded, easily navigated and most importantly consistent. Whether it's a static site or something a little more complex we design according to what you, the client wants.
